Wojciech Kubrakiewicz was born in Warsaw, is a graduate of Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Now he serves as an assistant at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He specializes in traditional gravure printing techniques, convex and flat.

At the meeting, will present a sign language interpreter and the Author.

1. 25th Festival for Women PROGRESSteron.

Although the festival has started but we think it might to be interesting for someone. Stanislaw Baj was born on the Bug River in the village Dolhobrody in Podlasie in 1953. After graduating from Art School in Zamosc, he enrolled at the Painting Department of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he works since 1982. Currently Vice-Rector for student affairs and teaching. Exhibits from the student years, mainly painting and drawing, sometimes graphic.

On 25th Feburary at Wroclaw Airport will open a new terminal  – new terminal can be visited from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The organizers have prepared a number of attractions.

Powązki Cemetery is the burial place of many deaf and hearing people who have demonstrated a history of activity and action in the Deaf community. On Day of the Dead (one of the importants day in Poland) we follow historian Tomasz Świderski to inquire the secrets of their lives. Above you will find this film documentation from the meeting with the deaf history and you will know the places where people were buried, who was active in deaf community in the past.

Fr. Jakub Falkowski (1775 – 1848) – founder of Poland’s first school for the deaf – Institute for the Deaf at Plac Trzech Krzyży.

Włostowski Kazimierz (1903 – 1991) – deaf, co-founder of the Lodz Sports Club of the Deaf and the Deaf Sports Club of Warsaw, he was president of the Polish Union of Associations of the Deaf and deaf Christian Aid Society in Lodz. After World War II was a co-founder of the Polish Association of the Deaf and Their Friends (now the Polish Association of the Deaf), where he was president in the years from 1946 to 1949. In his articles he often argued that the lack of publications from the deaf presenting their everyday life. During the Warsaw Rising  he was a Deaf Army Platoon team. One of the most active environmental activists deaf and post-war inter-war period.

Aurelia (1877 – 1969) and Felix (1879 – 1942) Stefańscy – deaf, longtime members of the Warsaw Society of the Deaf, after 1933 the members of the board, Felix also was a treasurer in the board.

Pętkowski Mieczyslaw (1841 – 1910) – deaf graduate of the Institute of the Deaf. A member of the first board of Warsaw Deaf Society, founded in 1883. He worked at Credit Society Directorate Earth in the main office. Through his extensive contacts, activities and organization managed to raise funds for their activities.

Jan Papłoński (1819 – 1885) – former director of the Institute for the Deaf from 1867 to 1885, died of a heart attack. Introduced major changes in the Institute while contributing to its development, was the originator and founder of the Warsaw Society of the Deaf in 1883. He was one of great pedagogue. In the hall of the deaf club “Opatrzność” Papłoński`s  portrait hung on his tomb was also funded by “Opatrzność” memorial plaque in recognition of his achievements. Bulletin was disappeared in unexplained circumstances few years ago.

Wieslaw Dobrowolski (1899 – 1969) – 8 years old lost his hearing, deaf graduate of the Institute of the Deaf. Wieslaw`s mother decided to work in IG (deaf school at the Plac Trzech Krzyzy in Warsaw) after she found about his deafness. Participant of the October Revolution in 1917. A supporter of socialism, but it was characterized by a high humanism – recognize the need to respect everyone regardless of who that person he always helped everyone. He was a member of the Polish Union of Associations of the Deaf and the longtime secretary of the Board of the Polish Association of the Deaf. Author a lot of articles in magazines the deaf environments.

Kamila Euzebia (1860 – 1926) and Leopold (1863 – 1930) Kozikowscy – were deaf members of the Warsaw Society of the Deaf Board. In 1894, Leopold had an idea to create a calendar “Friend of the Deaf,” which were to be provided information about the history of the Institute for the Deaf and the Deaf Society and other important information from everyday life deaf. It is not known whether the calendar was released, perhaps has been published in small quantities. This calendar was finally released after 1933.

Sulowski Józef (1840 – 1909) – deaf, one of the most active environmental activists deaf. Board member of the Warsaw Society of the Deaf in 1883 – 1909. Since 1874 when on the Polish lands there were no associations he was initiated to raise funds to help the poor deaf. In 1905, when arose the so-called Committee. “For the deaf-mute bread” became a part of its management. He was an authority among the deaf in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Maria (1873 – 1957) and Józef (1871 – 1933) Rogowscy – deaf, Józef – a board member of the Warsaw Society of the Deaf 1901, after renaming the Christian Association of the Deaf  “Opatrzność” in 1919  he was elected the first deaf president of this organization. The originator and first president of the Polish Union of Associations of the Deaf, which was to merge the voice of a deaf environment uniting deaf organizations active in this time before the various authorities. For the years 1924-1925 he was president of Warsaw Deaf Sports Club (now the “Wars”). He wrote many articles, a participant of many World Congress of the Deaf (1912 – Paris, 1916 – Moscow, 1928 – Prague, 1931 – Liege) during which the experience gathered and then shared them in Poland. His wife, Mary also was very active for a short period she held the President of the Polish Association of Deaf Societies.

Karol Anders (1876 – 1945) – deaf, came from Germany, in 1901 he moved to Poland where he married. During previous visits to travel to the Polish Association of the Deaf in Warsaw (who became a member after 1901) and served the counsel and experience gained in the creation of a deaf club in Berlin. After 1927 he joined the Management Board of Polish Deaf Sports Association. He worked mainly around sport Deaf.

Władysława Stempkowska (1880 – 1944) – deaf, came from Lviv, the owner of the property near Lviv. She was repeatedly donor for the Deaf and the Society of Małopolska “Nadzieja” was created in Lviv in 1876, was also a member of this organization. She had a deaf sister, a recognized painter – Maria Schayer – Górska.

The rich tradition and excitement guaranteed make Grand Warsaw is the most important event next to the Derby race season. The easiest way to get to the race car through the main gate (open on the days racing cars), which is located at Puławska St or gate side form Poleczki St

Tramway
You can also use the tram number 4 or 10 to stop “Wyścigi” and from overpass for pedestrians walk along the wall racing.

Bus line number 300 will be run only during the days of racing over a distance of Metro Wilanowska – Track Sluzewiec, every half hour.

Five Flavours Film Festival presents both contemporary and classic films from South-East and East Asia. Screenings are accompanied by discussions with film directors and producers (among whom were Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Ho Tzu Nyen, Chuyen Bui Thac in the previous years) and special events (exhibitions, lectures, concerts) which aim to present wider cultural, social, historic contexts of the region and its countries.

21 out of 30 titles included in the programme of the fift edition of Five Flavours are screened as Polish premieres. Among them is “Norwegian Wood”, a long awaited adaptation of the cult novel by Haruki Murakami.

All the films are screened in original languages, with Polish and English subtitles (except for “Flowers of Shanghai” – Polish and French subtitles, and “Norwegian Wood” – only Polish subtitles).
